What is EP/GP?

EP/GP is the new loot distribution system Corvus is using. The system is based on earning Effort Points (EP) for things like showing up to raids on time, killing bosses and staying the entire raid. As people received loot they are credited Gear Points (GP). These two numbers (EP & GP) are used to calculate the number that determines who gets priority on loot. To get your Priority (PR) you divide EP by GP (EP /GP = PR). What this means is receiving loot is directly proportionate to the amount of Effort put in (EP) and inversely proportionate to gear already received (GP). What helps to keep this fair is a weekly decay. Each week your EP and GP will decay by 25%. This promotes regular raiding and the sooner you receive loot and accumulate GP the sooner it begins to decay which will positively affect your PR. For more detailed information about the basics of EP/GP please visit:  What is EPGP?

How do I earn EP?

 - Showing up early and ready for raids +10
 - Staying the entire raid +15
 - Completing Bosses/Events + Variable Amount
 - Boss/Event Attempts (must be present for all attempts)    25% Boss/Event value per attempt up to 75%
 - Other EP can be awarded at officer discretion. + Variable Amount

Primarily EP will be awarded as stated in the list above. At 10 minutes before raid time, EP will be awarded to everyone who is outside the instance and prepared to begin. EP will be awarded at the time each boss is killed or at the end of the night for attempts, and EP will be awarded at the end of the night to those who received EP for showing up early and stayed the entire raid. Once the mod starts collecting data, EP will not be awarded until the end of the raid.

What if I am on the wait list?
Wait, what is the wait list?

With the growth of our guild, it will eventually get to the point where we have more signups than we have raid slots. Those extras who are not initially involved in the raid will be considered to be on the wait list. Wait listed people will receive EP just like anyone who is raiding if they meet the following requirements. They must have the toon that would otherwise be raiding outside of the raid instance prepared and ready to go during the entire raid. During this time the wait listed person will be expected to be online (on an alt is fine) and available to fill in slots when needed. This is obviously optional, but no EP will be awarded if these requirements are not met, otherwise they will enjoy the same EP awards as those in the raid. Please note, those who would not otherwise be qualified to raid an instance will not be considered for wait list. In other words, leeching EP by abusing our wait list will not be tolerated.

What is GP and how does it affect me?

Whenever someone receives a piece of loot in an instance they are credited GP. GP is a static number based on a formula computed using ilvl and gear slot coefficients. GP for items does not change and can be viewed as a tooltip on the item with the EPGP mod installed. GP will decay at a rate of 25% per week, so, the sooner you accumulate GP, the sooner it will be reduced and positively affect your PR. Get the EPGP Mod.

What does all this mean and why are we using EPGP?

What this all means is that loot distribution will be based on effort with consideration on what you’ve already received. If you chart out loot distribution using this method versus a random roll method, the loot is distributed more evenly to everyone and promotes better raid progression over time. What it comes down to is this system benefits the most to those who raid often and loot often, which is who form the core of our raids and push our progression the hardest. This system accomplishes this without harshly punishing casuals and those who prefer to wait for that 1 perfect drop.

In Corvus we are going to stick with what our members express is best for them. Please be open-minded and give this a fair chance. We will set up a forum specifically for discussions about how this system works, how it doesn’t work and how it could work better.
